Meeting The Ocean 2009

The Meeting the Ocean retreat ran from 17-23 April 2009.  The gallery above contains pictures taken during the retreat. The text below was the invitation to the event.

Meeting the Ocean listens to the call of the Ocean. This pull is an ancient call – the body/spirit drawn to the Mother of all life on Earth. The Ocean is also a source of sustenance/nourishment and when we set out on it – still today – there is a sense that we set out into the unknown. We put our life in the hands of a force vast and un-containable that has the ability to bring us to life, both with its tranquillity and its furious storms; it inspires respect and wonder.

We are coming to Holy Isle, known as Innis, ‘Isle of the Water Spirit’, an ancient place of contemplation and healing to listen to the wisdom of the Ocean and be refreshed by the Water element. In Meeting the Ocean we will meet ourselves and others as beings rather than personalities and experience a sense of continuum with the ocean as ‘mother of life’. This is an experience of returning to the source, of becoming the source, of returning home, of belonging.
