Winter Solstice Celebration

Winter Solstice Celebration
Tuesday 22nd December at Sunrise
Walk Sugar Loaf Mountain – Brecon Beacons near Abergavenny

First light on the winter solstice marks the turning point in the ‘Long Dark’. This is the time of the soul and the time of the seeding of life/creativity for the coming year, for rebirth. In marking this sunrise we are acknowledging transition; the depths of growth, sensed but not seen, a quickening deep within. We are celebrating the renewal of life.

Gathering at 6.30am in the (Upper Ho) Car Park for hot fruit punch, we will set out no later than 7am to ascend the peak for sunrise. Sunrise is at approximately 8.15. There will be silent time and a Chi Gong celebration. Descend for hot porridge by 10am. Return to Bristol by noon.

Cost £15 – (independent children are welcome – no charge)

Please Bring – Mug, Bowl and spoon for punch and porridge

Recommendations – Waterproof footwear, jacket and over-trousers, hat, gloves, layers – the wind is strong on top! Additional – Small backpack for bottle of water and micro fleece blanket or extra fleece and a camera.
